This is amazing!
The Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy combines a full-immersion experience with an impressive array of fun events, trips, and activities. Our curriculum is designed especially for middle and high school students, using the best learning strategies from Middlebury College and the Monterey Institute of International Studies. We recruit the best teachers from the best schools in the nation. Moreover, our staff members are passionate about language and life—and helping our students discover the joy of foreign languages.
Trying to learn a language in a one-hour class can be tedious. Learning the rules of grammar is an entirely different experience than using language in everyday life.
And that's how MMLA campers learn their language—by using it: for example, on a field trip with their Mandarin teacher, looking for dim sum, or on a French scavenger hunt. On any given day, you may find the Spanish soccer team playing the Arabic soccer team, spurred on by encouraging cheers from the sidelines.
In this kind of environment, learning another language is quicker and comes more naturally.
Since 1915, Middlebury College's summer schools have led the world in full-immersion language and cultural education for undergraduates and adults. Now, the Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy combines full-immersion language education in a co-educational, fun, summer-camp setting.
Students learn under the direction of faculty who are specialists in middle and high school language acquisition, college faculty, musicians, artists, and recreational leaders. Students and their residential advisors live the language, living in language-specific housing and using the target language for every daily activity. As a result, thinking and speaking a second language become perfectly natural.
