A diverse group

Our students range in age from entering the 7th grade to entering 12th grade. They come from many different schools around the country. As such, our students are a diverse mix. But they do have a few things in common. They all have a desire to rapidly improve their language skills; they love different cultures and look forward to learning about them; they're ready to challenge themselves in a supportive environment; and they like to have fun!

All levels of ability

Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy summer camps are designed to be fun and successful for young people who are learning a new language. We've had over 90 years teaching language students, and we are ready to guide all students—from the absolute beginner to the student who is already making good progress in middle or high school.

"A" Students?

Not necessarily!

Sure, some MMLA campers are great students, but the common thread with all MMLA campers is a desire to learn about other cultures and to make substantial progress in their language ability over four weeks of a summer camp.

My parents speak Chinese at home and I undertand a lot, but cannot speak to them. Is MMLA right for me?

You are not alone. Many students want to learn their parents' language and the MMLA curriculum is specifically designed to assist students whose aural understanding is highly developed while their own speaking or written ability is weaker.
