Health, Safety, and Camp Operations
The Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy creates a safe and supervised round-the-clock language and cultural immersion environment for middle and high school campers.
Safety and Supervision
- Our teacher to student ratio is 1-6; our faculty lives in dormitories with MMLA campers.
-
- Each residence also has language- and gender-specific residential advisors responsible for residential life and dormitory supervision, bringing the adult to student camper ratio to 1 to 5.
-
- MMLA is a structured camp designed for fun, learning and safety. Faculty, staff, and students are together most hours of the day.
-
- We do not tolerate use of illegal substances, or being in the presence of others doing so. We do not tolerate behavior that disrupts the creation of a fun and productive 24/7 language and cultural immersion that is rewarding for students and faculty alike.
Camp Operations
- All residence halls are separated by gender and language. Different ages are grouped separately.
-
- A camper may request a specific roommate. For the request to be implemented, each roommate must request the other.
-
- We offer different language levels for each language; students are placed in levels that support their current level of achievement while challenging them to excel.
