“I don’t think I ever really felt uncomfortable; I felt like everybody was in the same boat as me. We all had some difficulty, not being able to speak in our first language - but as soon as we started class and I realized we were learning things in one day that took months to learn in high school, that’s when I really embraced it and tried to learn all I could. I made a ton of friends. I still talk to lots of them. I ended up being able to skip 3 grades in Spanish - and it wasn’t just me. There were definitely people who were skipping grades in school.”
