Camper Travel Information (PDF)Middlebury College and the Monterey Institute of International Studies have long been recognized leaders in language education and international studies.
Since 1915, when it first launched an immersion program, Middlebury College has led the world in full-immersion language and cultural education. The Monterey Institute of International Studies, now in its 50th year, is renowned for its graduate education for professional careers in language teaching, translation and interpretation, and business and global policy. The Monterey Institute of International Studies affiliated with Middlebury College in 2005.
Together, Middlebury and Monterey bring their combined language expertise to the Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy.
At St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont, MMLA campers choose Arabic, Chinese, French, or Spanish at various levels. Each language group lives in a language-specific college residence accompanied by bilingual residential advisors and teaching faculty. A close community of friends develops as we live, learn, and play together, on campus and in the nearby Vermont countryside.
Menlo College, Atherton, California offers a small-college environment close to the rich cultural diversity of northern California for MMLA camps in Arabic, Chinese, French, and Spanish. In addition to the on-campus experience, MMLA campers enjoy hiking and other nearby outdoor activities, along with trips to cultural events that broaden language knowledge.
MMLA partners with the John Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) to offer Arabic, Chinese, French, and Spanish to students admitted through CTY's Talent Search. www.cty.jhu.edu
