I loved this!

After the Academy’s first session, in summer 2008, a number of students from the Spanish, French, Chinese, and Arabic programs shared with us their favorite activities. Here’s a sampling of what they liked best:
 

Cooking gambas al ajillo, a Spanish tortilla, gazpacho, guacamole, pico de gallo, quesadillas (learning all associated vocabulary, doing the cooking, sharing the food with other campers)

Creating a Spanish magazine

Studying the influence of soccer on Arab cultures, playing an entire game in Arabic

Making Chinese soup noodles and fried rice

Making films

Making a music video

Bargaining for clothes while shopping in Chinese

Creating a film documentary of faculty discussing their native countries and Middle Eastern travels

Creating a facebook/yearbook for each language school

Writing and performing an original song

Studying Spanish poets and writing their own poetry

Creating pan flutes and learning about other indigenous instruments
